I offer supervisory services for new therapists.
When we become new therapists, there’s a whole wide world of understanding that opens up to us. It can be exciting and intimidating, evident and mysterious, just like the human condition.
When you and I enter into a supervisory relationship, I will be there to help guide you, but also collaborate on a path forward for you that feels like it aligns with who you are as an emerging professional. It was not very long ago that I was in your shoes, and that perspective helps me guide you humbly and without judgement.
What does the supervisory process entail?
We will begin by having a first meeting and seeing if we’re a good fit.
Next, we’ll draw up and discuss the supervisory contract and make sure we’re on the same page.
We will meet on a monthly basis to talk about experiences you are having in sessions, help to structure your business of being a therapist (admin tasks, client load, paperwork, ethics, etc.), and foster your growth as a therapist.
I will review with you 10 or more of your sessions as video or audio recordings.
We will complete reports to the regulating body at 20, 35, and 50 hours. We will address any difficulties as they arise.
How much does a supervision session cost and how often do I have to come?
A supervision session is normally $150/hr. We can discuss sliding scale fees if you are experiencing any financial difficulties or are building your practice.
A full supervisory process is 50 hours of contact, which will take between 2 and 5 years to complete. We will meet monthly and can have ad hoc meetings as needed.
What are my approaches and strengths as a supervisor?
Warm, friendly, and nonjudgmental. I am a relatively new supervisor and so can remember what it’s like to be in your shoes!
Organized and reliable. I will strive to never miss a scheduled meeting and will always notify you of any disruption.
Always open to new learning and curious. I want to learn from you as much as you learn from me.
A strong knowledge of the ins and outs of setting up a private practice and running a therapy business.
A background in creative arts therapies and a passion for using creative interventions in the therapeutic and supervisory contexts.
